For all of you who were complaining about the interface on YouTube TV, there's a major update coming this week. At this point in time, the new features are only available to a select number of subscribers.
The changes that YouTube TV is getting are quite important and most of a visual nature. One of the biggest changes is the fact that you can skip ahead when you tap and hold the fast-forward button, something they call progressive fast forward. Basically, you can skip a minimum of 15 seconds per second and a maximum of 1 minute per second.
The Now Playing user interface is also getting larger thumbnails and some better suggestions, which is something everyone expects from a service that's tightly tied to Alphabet Inc.
It seems that the new changes are only getting to about half of the subscribers in the first phase, but if you want to cut the line, you can apparently uninstall the YouTube TV app on your device and reinstall it. This should give you a new visitor ID, which may or may not get you enrolled in the trial. Since you can just do this time and time again, you may get the update in a few tries. That advice comes from a YouTube TV engineer who posted on Reddit, so we're saying it's a pretty solid source.
The update will be available for all platforms YouTube TV supports, so it's not something that's tied to that aspect.
