What is the plot of You’re Cordially Invited?

You're Cordially Invited follows Will Ferrell’s Jim and Reese Witherspoon’s Margot as they find out that their respective wedding parties have booked the same island resort off the coast of Georgia on the same day. Witherspoon is the sister of one bride while Ferrell is the father of another. 

Neither party is happy that their family’s big day could get ruined because another set of uninvited people want to get ahold of their venue for their special day. What follows is a game of tug-and-war as either side does its best to get the venue exclusively for their brides. Who will win? That remains to be seen.

Yes, in the trailer we see the chaos that unfolds when two families double book the same wedding venue on the same day- June 1st. What follows is a male strip dance, the wedding venue crashing into the lake, one bride’s sister fighting for sunlight, and another bride’s father fighting an alligator in the bed, all the while Cake by the Ocean by DNCE plays in the background. Gloria Sanchez Productions, Hello Sunshine, and Stoller Global Solutions are the production companies. Filming began in Atlanta in May 2023. It was also filmed in Greensboro, Georgia. Sandy Creek Barn, a Greensboro, GA wedding venue is the resort venue used.
