Will there be an Arcane Season 3? Here’s what the Creator has Revealed About the Future Plans 

Arcane has ended after two seasons! Social media is full of people enjoying the final three episodes. But many are yearning for more of the animated series that took the world by storm. So, is there a chance we will get Arcane season 3?

This article will explore Arcane’s renewal possibilities, other adjacent projects, and what the creators of League of Legends and the show have to share about another possible season. 

Will There Be a Season 3 of Arcane? 

No, as of now, it has been confirmed that Arcane will only have two seasons. In June 2024, Netflix announced, along with releasing the first trailer for season two, that this journey will be coming to an end. Currently, the two seasons of Arcane are streaming on Netflix.

Why was Arcane Canceled?

Arcane wasn’t canceled by Netflix. Previously, there were rumors about Arcane going on for five seasons. But League of Legends creator Marc Merill clarified in a Reddit post that it was untrue. 

He clarified, “The confusion is because internally there was a budget conversation about 'approving 5 seasons' – which simply means we were setting aside a bunch of money for lots of development and is completely irrelevant to the Arcane creative."

Also, as per series co-creator Christian Linke, the show was supposed to end after two seasons. In an interview with Variety, he revealed, “From the very beginning, since we started working on this project, we had a very specific ending in mind, which means the story of ‘Arcane’ wraps up with this second season. But ‘Arcane’ is just the first of many stories that we want to tell in Runeterra.”

What’s next in the Arcane or League of Legends Universe? 

Marc Merill explained in his Reddit comment that the vision was always to tell more stories and keep on expanding the universe. Christian Linke also echoed his words and confirmed in an interview with Collider that, “Yeah, we're currently developing a bunch of follow-up projects.”

Linke also explained, “Really, Arcane was always considered the first step, kind of like the trial by fire. You need to figure out, “Can we do this? Do we have the chops? Do we have the characters? Do we have the storytelling?” 

Currently, we don’t have any official information about what these new projects will be. But fan theories are already running wild. Some fans think that the next project could be about Swain. This theory is gaining traction because the three-eyed crow we see in the show could be his demon, Raum. 

Others are also of the view that the Noxian invasion of Ionia is a subject that could be explored more in the next projects. Either way, the League of Legends universe is so vast that the creators will be spoiled for choice.
