All of this year’s iPhone models have received significant design changes, so if you get one of the iPhone 16 models, your old iPhone 15 case won’t be a good fit. This applies to the base iPhone 16 and 16 Plus, which have extra buttons now, while the high-end iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max have bigger screens than their predecessors.
The base iPhone 16 and 16 Plus now come with the ‘Action’ button, which debuted on the iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max last year. Aside from that, there’s also the ‘Camera Control’ button on the right-hand side, used to open the Camera app and make all kinds of photography adjustments. These new design features make them incompatible with older cases.
When it comes to the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, they now come in two bigger sizes: 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches. So, you won’t be able to insert any of those into an older case. Plus, these models also have the new ‘Camera Control’ button, like the base models. Those are just a few of the many new things in the iPhone 16 lineup.
The good news is that Apple already sells a wide range of iPhone 16 cases, including the company’s own clear cases and silicone cases with MagSafe. There are also third-party options made by OtterBox, Beats, and more.
If you plan on preordering one of the iPhone 16 models, it’s worth ordering a new case as soon as possible. Plenty of great options already exist, and you’ll want to protect your phone from day one.
