What is the plot of Wicked Game: Devil in the Desert?

In 2012, a sheriff’s deputy found a woman zip-tied and frantic on the side of the road in the Mojave Desert, sparking a chilling investigation. What seemed like a random crime quickly unraveled into a grisly pursuit for a suspected buried treasure. 

This discovery led to a years-long investigation involving sting operations, an international search, and a dramatic prison break, all culminating in a courtroom showdown between lead prosecutor Matt Murphy and the man believed to be behind it all—Hossein Nayeri.

Set during the early days of medical marijuana, Wicked Game: Devil in the Desert is a gripping three-part docuseries that offers intimate access to the case, featuring rare evidence, body cam and dash cam footage, as well as recorded police interviews with the victims and suspects. 

Through new interviews with the lead prosecutor, deputy counsel, and the lead detective, along with archival footage from 20/20 and interviews with the victims and Nayeri, this series offers an in-depth look into a twisted game of greed, violence, and justice.
