Jigsaw's games have come to an abrupt halt. Saw 11, the planned follow-up to 2023’s Saw X, has reportedly been cancelled, throwing the future of the horror franchise into uncertainty. While Lionsgate hasn’t officially confirmed the cancellation, sources close to the production claim the project is “totally dead” after months of behind-the-scenes turmoil. So, what is going on with Saw 11? We will explore this in the article.

Production Problems and Producer Clashes

According to a report from Bloody Disgusting, Saw 11’s downfall began in January 2024, when tensions among producers escalated into a full-blown conflict. One producer was eager to move forward with the project, while another actively worked to stall it. Without a studio mediator to resolve the dispute, production ground to a halt.

Everything went sideways in January 2024,” a source told the outlet. “The producers started fighting. One tried to ‘plow forward,’ the other put up roadblocks.” Ultimately, Lionsgate executives didn’t step in to smooth things over. One source clarified, “[Lionsgate] didn’t have anyone to smooth over the disagreement."

So, what is Saw 11's current status? It’s totally dead,” an insider stated. It’s 100% over. Almost a year now.

What Saw 11's Cancellation Means for the Franchise

While Saw 11 may never see the light of day, that doesn’t necessarily mean the Saw franchise is over. According to the insider, if the series continues, it will likely “start over” in some form—whether as a reboot or a fresh take on Jigsaw’s deadly games.

The franchise has gone through multiple evolutions over the years. After Saw 3D (2010), the series took a hiatus before returning with Jigsaw (2017) and Spiral (2021). However, it was Saw X that truly revitalized the series, earning critical acclaim and grossing over $111.8 million worldwide.

Initially, Saw 11 was expected to continue Saw X’s storyline, bringing back Tobin Bell as John Kramer, Shawnee Smith as Amanda Young, and Costas Mandylor as Mark Hoffman. Kevin Greutert, who directed Saw X, was set to return alongside screenwriters Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton. The project even had a confirmed release date: September 27, 2024, later pushed to September 26, 2025.

But for now, it seems Jigsaw’s story is at a standstill. The source notes that the franchise could be sold elsewhere, but any new sequel would likely require a fresh start. Whether this truly marks the end of Saw or just another pause in its long, twisted history remains to be seen.
