MTV The Challenge season 40 began five months ago with a mammoth cast. Over 20 episodes of betrayals, friendships, relationships, and more, the finale is here and we know who are the winners! In this article, we will reveal the winners of season 40 of The Challenge.Â
On the Men’s side, Jordan Wiseley was the winner of The Challenge 40 and this is his fifth win. He was the only participant who never went to elimination. In the final, his swimming skills came in handy as he was ahead of the rest at almost every checkpoint. He took home $400,000.
On the Women’s side, it was a tie as Jenny West & Rachel Robinson both won The Challenge 40. In the final, Jenny led in the checkpoints with her swimming skills, but Rachel’s storyline, social game, and Era 1 allies helped her win the karma vote. Due to this, they tied. In fact, they are the first to tie in an individual win in the history of the show. They shared $237,500.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Rachel said about the tie, "I don't think anyone would've seen coming, either. You couldn't have written it." When Jenny was asked if she would have liked a tiebreaker, she said, "No tie-breaker for me, Rach. I'm more than happy for Rachel and I to win together because I think it was supposed to be that way from the start. It was written in the stars for me."
On the Men’s side, Derek Chavez came in second, Johnny "Bananas" Devenanzio came in third and Kyland Young came in fourth. On the Women’s side, Michele Fitzgerald came in third, and Tori Deal came in fourth.Â
The Challenge 40: Battle of the Eras is only available to watch on MTV. But you can catch it on Hulu + Live TV. You can also catch the past seasons of The Challenge on Paramount+. Also, Part 1 of The Challenge 40: Battle of the Eras reunion will air on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2025, at 8 p.m. ET on MTV.
