Discovery Plus has just announced that it will be expanding to more countries in its efforts to cover the world in the next few years. 2021 will kick off with the largest expansion yet - the United States. But where else can we enjoy Discovery Plus?
Discovery Plus will bring in content from a bunch of networks from its mother company, as well as original shows and documentaries to cover all ranges of interests.
Discovery Plus has already been launched in several countries ahead of the US release. Ireland, India, the Nordics, Italy, and the Netherlands can already enjoy Discovery Plus, but the content is somewhat different for each nation.
As Discovery Plus is scheduled for launch on January 4th, the platform will cost $4.99 per month with ads or $6.99 per month without ads. Verizon customers can get Discovery Plus for free with select plans.
In the UK, Discovery Plus costs £4.99 per month or £29.99 per year, both options coming with a 2-week free trial, live TV, 30-day catch-up, live Pay TV (Discovery, TLC, Animal Planet, others), exclusive Discovery Plus originals and premieres, latest episodes of various shows at the same time the US gets them, bingeable box sets, curated collections.
There's also a free tier that will get you access to live free TV and 30-day catch-up.
Sky Q customers can get 12 months of Discovery Plus for free.
In India, Discovery Plus has lots of free content, but you can also subscribe to get access to even more original shows. The subscription will cost you ₹99 per month or ₹299 per year. That's about $1.4 per month or $4 per year - definitely, the best deal there is.
In Italy, Discovery has Dplay Plus, offering content from a bunch of channels, including HGTV, Investigation Discovery, Sci, Animal Planet, Food Network, Nove, Dmax, BBC Planet Earth, Frisbee, and mother.
The subscription costs €3.99 per month or €39.90 per year. If you add Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2 to the mix, you have to pay $7.99 per month or $69.90 per year.
TIM subscribers in Italy will be able to get Discovery Plus for a special deal.
Currently, the Netherlands has Dplay, but this will morph into Discovery Plus in early 2021. The subscription will cost €3.99 per month or €39.90 per year.
Since Discovery Plus is also launching in Spain, you should know the platform will morph from Dplay from January 4th. The Discovery Plus website does not offer details on the Discovery Plus platform's pricing, but it is likely going to fall in line with the other European premieres at €3.99 per month or €39.90 per year.
