What’s Coming to BritBox in September 2024

BBC Studios has unveiled the lineup for BritBox in September 2024, featuring an array of content ranging from new BritBox Originals to timeless British classics.

The September lineup encompasses the second season of the popular bomb squad drama Trigger Point, four seasons of Greg Davies' Man Down, the fifth season of The Bay, and the third season of The Tower. Additionally, audiences will be treated to the true crime drama Des, starring BAFTA-winner David Tenant.

BritBox is a digital video subscription service providing the most extensive collection of British TV in the US and Canada.

Man Down Season 1

Release date: Monday, Sept. 2
Number of episodes: 7

Dan, played by Greg Davies, is the main character in Man Down. Dan is a walking disaster-area, and he often behaves like a child trapped in a man’s body. He faces numerous challenges, including character flaws, an unwanted teaching job, uniquely dysfunctional friends, and a wilfully insane family, all of which contribute to his consistently collapsing world.

Dennis Nilsen, also known as the 'kindly killer,' was a local civil servant who spent five years murdering boys and young men he met on the streets of London's Soho from 1978 to 1983. He would meet and befriend these men, then offer them food or a place to stay for the night back at his North London flat.

The Responder Season 2

Release date: Thusday, Sept. 5

Get ready for the thrilling next chapter of Chris' journey as he adjusts to life after his time as a night response officer in The Responder Season 2. Fans will rejoin Chris six months after the events of season one as he works to piece his life back together following his former job. 

Trigger Point Season 2

Trigger Point is an action thriller series set in London that follows a police bomb disposal officer, Lana ‘Wash’ Washington. Season 2 is set to reference real-world events. For instance, Lana will return from a stint defusing bombs in Ukraine, where war with Russia continues.

Charles III: The Coronation Year

Release date: Friday, Sept. 6
Number of episodes: 1

Narrated by Helena Bonham Carter, Charles III: The Coronation Year takes audiences behind the scenes of the King's first year of rule and provides a unique perspective into the lives of King Charles III and Queen Camilla. It offers never-before-seen behind-the-scenes access to both the day of the coronation and its preparations.

Man Down Season 2

Release date: Monday, Sept. 9

Dan is still stuck in a teaching job he hates and has been rejected by the girl he thought would fix everything, Miss Lipsey, so he shifts his focus to self-improvement.

Forensics: The Real CSI Season 1

Release date: Tuesday, Sept. 10
Number of episodes: 3

The show follows real crime investigations using modern forensic science. In the first episode, the forensics team works to identify a shooter and determine the cause of death of a body found under suspicious circumstances.

Man Down Season 3

Release date: Monday, Sept. 16

Dan's poor performance as a teacher has led to disciplinary action. Should he leave the teaching job he hates and pursue a new adventure? New characters to look out for include a caretaker from Eastern Europe and Deadalus, who is Dan's mum's boyfriend.

The Bay Season 5

When Hannah, a 23-year-old university student, is discovered dead at the edge of the docks, the MIU team in Morecambe takes on a new case. Jenn, who is returning to work after the passing of her father, sets aside her own grief to provide support for Hannah’s deeply divided family.

Man Down Season 4

Dan left his job as a teacher and is now working in a new profession. He is also helping Aunt Nesta and his mom find a home in a retirement village. At the same time, he's trying to uncover the truth about a friendship that he had forgotten.

The Tower Season 3

Two years after we last saw her, Sarah is asked to investigate the stabbing of a teenage boy. This case brings her into contact with Lizzie, who is now balancing life as a detective and a mother. It also brings her into conflict with Kieran, who is leading Operation Perseus, which is targeting drug kingpin Shakiel.
