January 2019 Brings Ant-Man and Dozens of New Movies to Netflix

Christmas isn't here yet and the New Year's is also quite a bit away, but we need to discuss something quite serious - the new movies and series coming to Netflix in January 2019.

Yes, it may seem way too early, especially since there are quite a few movies left to get introduced this December, but since the list is out, why not get excited about it with time to spare?

January is a month that's pretty full of cool movies, original Netflix content, series, and more. Frankly, we can't wait to see some of these and we think you'll feel the same, like the Ant-Man and the Wasp, The Incredibles, Hotel Transylvania 3, or even Happy Feet. We'll make sure to leave an IMDB link so you can check out what others think of the entries.

January 1st

• A Series of Unfortunate Events - adventure, comedy, drama - The third season of this Netflix original is coming up quick.
• Across the Universe - drama, fantasy, musical - An American girl (Evan Rachel Wood) and an artist from Liverpool (Jim Sturges) start up a romance
• Babel - drama - Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett, Gael Garcia Bernal; need we say more?
• Black Hawk Down - drama, history, war - Elite US soldiers go after the lieutenants of a Somalian warlord
• City of God - crime, drama - Action takes place in the slums of Rio where the life of two friends takes different paths.
• COMEDIANS of the world - comedy - A new Netflix original comedy event brings together 47 comedians
• Definitely, Maybe - comedy, drama, romance - Ryan Reynolds plays a dad who has a difficult time explaining to his daughter the reality of his divorce
• Godzilla - action, adventure, sci-fi - The world is turned upside down when monsters emerge from the deep, but one of them turns out to be a savior
• Happy Feet - animation, adventure, comedy - What can be cuter than an odd penguin who'd rather dance than sing?
• Hell or High Water - action, crime, drama - Two brothers resort to a scheme that is going to save their family's ranch
• I Know What You Did Last Summer - horror, mystery - The friendship between four friends gets stronger after a murderer with a hook goes after them a year after being involved in a tragic accident
• Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - action, adventure, fantasy - 
• Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade - action, adventure, fantasy - Indiana Jones goes up against Adolf Hitler's Nazis in a movie set in 1938
• Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark - action, adventure - Indiana Jones goes on another adventure to stop Hitler's Nazis from obtaining power.
• Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom - action, adventure - Indiana Jones goes on the search for a mystical stone.
• It Takes Two - comedy, family, romance - The Olsen twins take on another role of identical-looking strangers in a 90s comedy.
• Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back - comedy - A classic comedy from the early 2000s with Kevin Smith featuring in all possible roles - director, writer, actor.
• Jersey Boys - biography, drama, music -  The movie tells the story of the famous 60s group The Four Seasons.
• Mona Lisa Smile - drama - Julia Roberts plays a teacher who makes conservative girls in the 50s to question traditional social roles.
• Bean’s Holiday - comedy, family - If you're a fan of Mr. Bean, you'll love to see him take a trip to Cannes only to find more trouble.
• Pan’s Labyrinth - drama, fantasy, war - This Guillermo del Toro movie is set in Spain, 1994, sees a young girl escape into a fantasy world.
• Pinky Malinky - animation, comedy - A new Netflix original animation series produced by Nickelodeon tells the story of a happy hot dog living in a human world.
• Pulp Fiction - crime, drama - John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Willis, and Uma Thurman in a classic Tarantino movie.
• Swingers - comedy, drama - Jon Favreau plays a small-time actor who's under the weather after his girlfriend dumps him, so his friends do their best to cheer him up.
• Tears of the Sun - action, drama, thriller - Bruce Willis plays a special-ops commander who leads a team into the Nigerian jungle on a rescue mission.
• The Addams Family - comedy, fantasy - The classic eccentric family is back on Netflix, ruining the plans of a scam artist claiming to be their uncle.
• The Boy in the Striped Pajamas - drama, war - A tear-jerker story about the son of a commandant at a German concentration camp during WWII who builds a friendship with a Jewish boy on the other side of the fence.
• The Dark Knight - action, crime, drama - One of the best Batman movies, featuring the late Heath Ledger as Joker, becomes available on Netflix again.
• The Departed - crime, drama, thriller - Leonardo DiCaprio plays alongside Matt Damon and Jack Nicholson in a riveting story placed in South Boston.
• The Mummy - action, adventure, fantasy - An archaeological dig goes sideways when a mummy awakens and starts wreaking havoc as it searches for a long-lost love.
• The Mummy Returns - action, adventure, fantasy - Imhotep's mummified body is shipped to a London museum, but when he wakes up, he will do anything to get his hands on the Bracelet of Anubis.
• The Strangers - horror, mystery, thriller - Three men start terrorizing a young couple staying in a remote vacation home.
• Tidying Up with Marie Kondo - reality TV - Author Marie Kondo offers tops of organizing your home and workplace in this new Netflix original series.
• Watchmen - action, drama, mystery - Set in 1985, this superhero movie sees our heroes trying to bring justice to a fallen colleague.
• xXx - action, adventure, thriller - Vin Diesel is Xander Cage, an extreme sports athlete recruited by the US government on a special mission which leads to a lot of action.
• XXX: State of the Union - action, crime, thriller - Ice Cube is a new agent in the xXx program trying to stop a coup attempt against the US President.

January 2

• Monty Python and the Holy Grail - adventure, comedy, fantasy - The Holy Grail is the object King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table go searching for.

January 4

• And Breathe Normally - drama - A bond is formed between an Icelandic mother and an asylum seeker as they fight to figure out life. This is a Netflix movie.
• Call My Agent! - comedy - The third season from this comedy is coming to Netflix in early January.
• El Potro: Unstoppable - drama - A Netflix Original film about a pop star that pays a high price for his rise to fame
• Lionheart - drama - Another Netflix Original movie about a young woman who takes over her father's business.

January 9

• GODZILLA: The Planet Eater - animation - Godzilla is humanity's ally again as a new monster comes to destroy Earth.
• Solo: A Star Wars Story - action, adventure, fantasy - This is the story of Han Solo's beginnings, including meeting Chewbacca and Lando Calrissian before joining the Rebellion.

January 10

• When Heroes Fly - action, drama - This is an original Netflix movie about four friends who reunite more than a decade after having a falling out to find Yaeli, one of these men's sister.

January 11

• Friends from College - comedy, drama - The second season of this Netflix series follows four college friends approaching their 40s.
• ReMastered: Massacre at the Stadium - documentary, music - The film follows the story of Victor Jara, a Chilean singer who was tortured and killed by the Pinochet regime. 
• Sex Education - comedy, drama - A teenager living with his sex therapist mother (Gillian Anderson) teams up with a school classmate to start their own health clinic
• Solo - Netflix original
• The Last Laugh - comedy - A new Netflix original following the story of a former stand up comedian who retired from the spotlight but wants to do the last comedy tour.

January 15

• American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace - biography, crime, drama - A new episode on the most notorious American crimes, focusing on Versace

• Carmen Sandiego - animation - A new Netflix original following the adventure of master thief Carmen Sandiego
• Close - action, thriller - Featuring Noomi Rapace plays the role of Sam, a bodyguard, and counter-terrorism expert who has to protect a rich young heiress.
• FYRE: The Greatest Party That Never Happened - documentary - This Netflix original tells the story of the Fyre Festival, the luxury music fest that turned out to be a scam
• Grace and Frankie - comedy - The fifth season of Grace and Frankie lands on Netflix, telling the story of two women whose husbands are romantically involved.
• IO - sci-fi - In a post-cataclysmic Earth, a teenage girl must decide if to leave the planet with the final shuttle or remain on Earth
• The World’s Most Extraordinary Homes - documentary - A new season of this Netflix original documentary lands in January
• Trigger Warning with Killer Mike - documentary - Presented by rapper Killer Mike, this new docuseries examines cultural taboos
• Trolls: The Beat Goes On - animation - The fifth season of this animation is back on Netflix, following the experiences of Poppy, Branch and the rest of the trolls.

January 21

• Justice - drama - A young woman tries to make it on her own instead of joining her father's law firm and returns to Abu Dhabi to become a defense attorney

January 24

• Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes - documentary, crime -  The new episode of this riveting Netflix series lands in January and we can't wait.
• Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation - action, adventure, comedy - After landing in cinemas last summer, the latest Hotel Transylvania movie comes to Netflix to follow Dracula falling in love.

January 25

• Animas - horror, thriller - Another Netflix original horror movie that will try to spook you out.
• Black Earth Rising - thriller - Kate was rescued from the Rwandan genocide and now lives in London when her mother takes on a case involving an African militia leader that will change both their lives.
• Club de Cuervos - comedy, drama - The fourth season of this series following a beloved soccer team comes to Netflix in January
• Kingdom - action, thriller - A new series kicks off on Netflix following a crown prince sent to investigate a mysterious outbreak
• Medici: The Magnificent - biography, drama, history - The new season of this series following the famous Italian family from the 15th century starts in January
• Polar - action - A retired master assassin comes back to face off with a group of young hit men.
• Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt - comedy, drama - The second half of the fourth season of this Ellie Kemper series is ready to be watched by all fans.

January 27

• Z Nation - action, comedy, drama - The story continues in the fifth season, as everyday heroes fight against the zombie virus.

January 29

• Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias: One Show Fits All - comedy - Fluffy is back! Get ready for an hour of laughs as Iglesias takes the stage once more.
• Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man and the Wasp - adventure, action, comedy - This Marvel movie is coming to Netflix just a month after the latest Avengers movie arrived, so you can watch Scott Lang get around house arrest to do superhero business.

January 30

• The Incredibles 2 - animation, action, adventure - The Parr family is back to saving the world in this 2018 movie.
