Taylor Lautner is set to make a thrilling comeback to the supernatural world with Taylor Lautner: Werewolf Hunter, a scripted series currently in development at Amazon MGM Studios.

The Twilight alum will star in and executive produce the show, which takes a meta approach by blending fiction with reality. In this article, we will discuss everything we know about this upcoming series. Also, stay tuned as we will keep updating this developing story with more details when it gets released.

Release date and Where to Watch

Taylor Lautner: Werewolf Hunter does not have a release date yet. But we will update this space when it’s revealed.

What is Taylor Lautner: Werewolf Hunter About?

Created by Daisy Gardner (Single Drunk Female), who also serves as showrunner, the series imagines Lautner playing a fictionalized version of himself. The official logline teases an action-packed and humorous twist:

After wrapping the final ‘Twilight’ film, Taylor Lautner vanished from the spotlight. Fans speculated, tabloids theorized—but the truth is wilder than fiction. Taylor wasn’t just taking a mental health break. He was preparing for his real calling…Taylor Lautner: Werewolf Hunter.

The official synopsis further states:

Playing himself, Taylor is drawn into a secret society of werewolf trackers who need his unique expertise. As he navigates his double life—Hollywood actor by day, supernatural warrior by night—Taylor must wrestle with the ultimate irony: fighting the very creatures that made him famous. Between saving the world, reviving his career, and falling in love, he faces the ultimate question—what happens when your biggest role becomes your greatest enemy?” (via Variety)

Lautner, best known for playing Jacob Black in The Twilight Saga, will take on a fresh yet familiar role, embracing his werewolf-related legacy in a tongue-in-cheek way. This isn't the only Twilight-related show to be in the works. Netflix is also working on adapting Midnight Sun.

Fan Reactions & Lautner’s Response

Lautner confirmed the news by sharing screenshots of Variety’s report on Instagram, humorously captioning it:

“Just when I thought I was out…they pull me back in.”

His Twilight co-star Kellan Lutz responded with, “Congrats man!” while Lautner’s wife, Tay Lautner, expressed her excitement in an Instagram post, writing:

“Watching you along this journey of growth and healing these past seven years has truly been such a gift.” She also hinted that the show has a deeper meaning, saying, “The parallels it has to his life are truly remarkable.”

Lautner himself revealed that the series has been in development for the past year, building anticipation among fans eager to see him return to the werewolf universe—this time as a hunter rather than the hunted.

Lautner’s Career Beyond Twilight

Since his breakout as Jacob Black, Lautner has starred in films like The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl, Abduction, and The Ridiculous 6. He has also appeared in TV shows like Scream Queens, Cuckoo, and My Own Worst Enemy.

With Taylor Lautner: Werewolf Hunter, he steps back into the supernatural spotlight—but this time, the werewolves are his enemies, not his pack.

Creative Team and Production Details

The project was brought to Amazon by Tornante TV, the independent studio behind BoJack Horseman and Undone. Daisy Gardner, an executive producer and writer, is the creator and showrunner.
