There's a new Penny Dreadful show in town, and we are super eager to watch it. Penny Dreadful: City of Angels is kicking off soon on Showtime, and we want to watch all the new episodes online, so join us in figuring out the best way to do this.
City of Angels is a spin-off to the original Penny Dreadful show and has been in the works since late 2018. After the success of the first series, they're bringing in a new set of actors to take on the rules here: Natalie Dormer (whom you know from Game of Thrones), Daniel Zovatto, Adriana Barraza, and more. Rory Kinnear will also join the cast, although he'll have a different role here, and not that of Frankenstein's monster as he did in the original Penny Dreadful show.
The show is set 50 years after the original series, taking place in 1948 in Los Angeles. The characters of the show are in conflict with a deity called Santa Muerte, while others are allied with the Devil, making for a really interesting show that we cannot wait to watch.
City of Angels will premiere on Showtime on April 26th, starting at 10 PM. The first episode was actually released on April 23rd on Showtime's online platform ahead of the premiere, but you can always catch up or watch live when it airs.

Usually, new episodes of Showtime series show up on the Showtime website at the same time they air on TV. Sometimes, they make exceptions and change things up a bit as they did with the first episode of Penny Dreadful: City of Angels. These types of changes, however, are temporary, so you should not get used to them too much. There are a few ways that you can watch Showtime online, which are through the Showtime Anytime app, for which we will need credentials from your TV provider, or through the regular Showtime app, for which you'll have to sign up directly.
There are Showtime apps for pretty much any device you have at home, including iOS and Android smartphones and tablets, Chromecast, Roku, Xbox One, smart TVs from LG and Samsung, Fire TV, Apple TV, Android TV, and more. (Note: Showtime is a service that only works in the United States, so if you happen to travel abroad, you will need a VPN to access the content and unblock it anywhere you may be. This way, you'll be adding Showtime to your subscription as you would when using a cable company. Here are a few ways to subscribe to Showtime:
Amazon Prime Video - If you have an Amazon Prime subscription and get Prime Video with it or you subscribe directly to Amazon Prime Video, you can also add Showtime to your subscription. This way, you'll be able to access all the content through the Prime Video app and pay your subscription through Amazon.

Sling TV - We also have Sling TV on the list, and it is one of the most customizable platforms on the market. There are three bundles available here, namely Orange, Blue, and Orange + Blue. Before making your choice, you need to be well aware of the fact that Orange subscribers can only enjoy one stream at a time, while Blue subscribers get three of them, and Orange + Blue subscribers get four simultaneous streams. There are also a ton of channel packs that you can get depending on your interests, and plenty of premium networks, including Showtime. Watch 3 Days Free on Sling TV Now!
Hulu - Our list continues with Hulu, which has a single bundle of networks available. Besides the main bundle, there are also a couple of channel packs that you can get, and several premium networks, including Showtime. A really cool thing about Hulu's Live TV service is that when you subscribe to it you also get access to everything they have available On-Demand, so you get a lot more content to enjoy. We should also point out that even if you subscribe to the Hulu Video-on-Demand service, you can still add Showtime to your account. Start your free trial on Hulu!
YouTube TV - There is also the option of YouTube TV if you want to get Showtime. The service features a single bundle of networks, and you can also add a bunch of premium channels, including Showtime. There are no channel packs available here, so that's the only way you can customize your subscription. All YouTube TV subscribers can enjoy three simultaneous streams and unlimited cloud DVR storage space.
Traveling the world is pretty awesome, but what you need to know that there are some limitations to the things you can watch when you travel because all those live TV platforms and streaming services that you subscribed to back home are now geo-blocked. So, since you won't be able to access them freely when you are not in the United States, you will need to use a VPN. Basically, as soon as the platform detects you are no longer in the United States, it blocks your access. You can solve the problem pretty easily by using the VPN to change your IP address, so you appear to be back in the United States rather than anywhere else. We recommend ExpressVPN because it is a tool that works all the time, and it has thousands of servers all over the world and some great privacy features.
Here's how you can use ExpressVPN to watch Penny Dreadful: City of Angels:
