We're all living through a pandemic, and we're all spending a lot of time streaming content on various platforms. Now that Discovery Plus is here, the question arises - how can we watch Discovery Plus with friends?
Most major services have watch party features. Whether the feature is called exactly that, or a variable of it, the core of the problem is the same - you get to enjoy content with your friends and family, comment on it, and so on. While it may not feel like it did when you could freely spend time together with a bowl of popcorn in your arms, it's still something!
With the newly launched Discovery Plus, however, this is not something you can do. Sadly, Discovery Plus does not have a watch party feature at all.
If you want to enjoy such a service, you best head over to Netflix, Hulu, Disney Plus, Amazon Prime Video, and so on. For now, Discovery Plus is missing this feature, and you can't sit back and watch House Hunters together as comedians do.
In fact, if you watched House Hunters: Comedians on Couches, that's pretty much what you'll need to do yourself. Power up your webcam, join Zoom or a similar service, say "when," and all start streaming an episode at the same time. Then, you can laugh together. Sadly, this won't allow any of you to control the playback for everyone so you can pause and comment on various scenes, but it's the best you're going to get for a while.
Hopefully, we'll soon update this article after Discovery Plus decides to include the feature. There are other, more pressing, things the service needs before Watch Party is added, however, but we're sure they'll reach that point sometime in the future.
So, that being said, it's not currently possible to start a watch party on Discovery Plus.
