Popular streaming service DramaFever was known to be one of the go-to options for catching up on Korean drama content. The streaming service owned by Warner Bros. has been shut down making its content inaccessible to subscribers anymore.
DramaFever released an official statement to thanks its user base for the nine years of support and stated that the service is shutting down due to business reasons. Any users who were subscribed to the service will be offered refunds. Subscribers can expect an email from DramaFever in the coming days with the steps to redeem the refunds.
In its official statement, the streaming platform revealed “We appreciate the passion of our fans and it’s been a privilege to deliver you this content. While this decision is difficult, there are a variety of business reasons that have led to this conclusion. We appreciate each and every one of our fans and their passion for the content DramaFever was able to bring into your lives.”
Prior to the service shutting down, DramaFever revealed that all currently airing dramas would be postponed to a later date. Eventually, the service provider went silent on all of its social media platforms and all of its content was removed. The official YouTube channel had nearly 4.3 million subscribers and is no longer available for access.
AT&T completed its acquisition of Warner Bros. earlier this year there is a possibility that DramaFever’s content will be moved under AT&T’s rumored streaming bundle in the future. DramaFever was a very popular platform, and it comes as a huge blow to fans. Warner Bros. has not made an official statement about the sacking, and it is unknown if the platform will be making a comeback through AT&T officially. There are very few options available to the international fanbase, and the absence of Warner Bros.’ platform has definitely stung fans.
