Release date & Where to Watch

Beauty in Black will bring sex, scandal, and stars to Netflix when the first eight episodes of the 16-episode drama drop on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2024. While part one is coming soon, the release date for part two has yet to be announced.

Plot

Beauty in Black follows two women on vastly different paths. Kimmie, played by Taylor Polidore Williams, is struggling to get by after being kicked out by her mother. At the same time, Mallory, portrayed by Crystle Stewart, thrives as the head of her own business. As their lives unexpectedly intersect, the series explores how their fates become intertwined.

Filming

Beauty in Black was filmed in Atlanta, Georgia, from March 11, 2024, to April 25, 2024.

Behind the Scenes

Tyler Perry is the writer, director, and executive producer behind the upcoming Netflix drama Beauty in Black. Perry’s production company, Tyler Perry Studios, produces the series, with Angi Bones and Tony Strickland also on board as producers. 

In addition to Beauty in Black, Perry is also working on another Netflix project, Six Triple Eight, a film about the first and only all-Black Women’s Army Corps unit stationed overseas during World War II.
