Tracker has quickly become one of CBS's standout series, capturing the top spot in the 2023-2024 TV season among shows that didn’t involve football. Following its debut after the Super Bowl, the procedural drama drew widespread attention and became a fan favorite. Starring Justin Hartley as Colter Shaw, a skilled survivalist who uses his tracking abilities to solve cases, Tracker brings a fresh edge to the procedural genre, making it one of the most talked-about shows on TV.
The first season of Tracker wrapped up with Colter successfully solving numerous cases while hinting at deeper, unresolved mysteries about his past. As the series heads into its highly anticipated second season, fans are eager to see how these storylines will evolve. However, season two comes with its own set of changes—most notably, the departure of Robin Weigert, who played Teddi Bruin. Though reasons for her exit haven’t been disclosed, her absence will certainly be felt.
With CBS confident in Tracker's continued success, the show returns earlier than last year and will feature more episodes, promising even more thrilling cases and character development. In this article, we’ll dive into everything we know about Tracker season 2, from premiere details to cast updates. Be sure to stay tuned, as we’ll keep updating this article with the latest information as it becomes available!
Tracker will return for season two on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2024, at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. The crime drama has a TV-14 rating and can be streamed on Paramount+.
Tracker centers on Colter Shaw, a man who makes a living by taking on cases, typically involving missing persons. Using his exceptional tracking skills, Colter works with law enforcement and private citizens in exchange for reward money.Â
The producers describe the show as "an elevated old-fashioned show," featuring a case-of-the-week format where each episode's mystery is resolved by the end. However, Colter is a more complex hero than usual as the ongoing drama surrounding his dysfunctional family continues to unfold.
In season two, Colter will crisscross North America, collaborating with cops and citizens to solve cases that others can't. The show will delve deeper into his past, particularly the secrets and conflicts within his family. According to executive producer Elwood Reid, Colter bore the brunt of his family's dysfunction, and more will be revealed about his relationship with his sister, who holds key information about their father. Additionally, Velma and Reenie, characters introduced in season one, will take on expanded roles, with Reenie venturing into new business opportunities.
As season two progresses, viewers can expect more insight into Colter's mysterious past and the reasons behind his nomadic lifestyle while still enjoying the weekly cases that make Tracker a compelling watch.
During the July Television Critics Association press tour, executive producer Ken Olin confirmed that season two will consist of 22 episodes.
