What is the plot of the G20 film?
At the heart of G20 is U.S. President Danielle Sutton, played by Academy Award winner Viola Davis. She finds herself thrust into a life-or-death situation when the G20 Summit in Cape Town is overtaken by terrorists.
Once a decorated Iraq war veteran, Sutton arrives at the summit with her family, only for diplomatic formalities to be shattered as armed mercenaries storm the venue, taking most of the world leaders hostage. Sutton narrowly escapes and must now rely on her battlefield instincts to protect her loved ones, defend her country, and stop a global catastrophe.
“This is Viola Davis as you’ve never seen her — heroically kicking tons of ass in a global thrill ride,” (via THR) says director Patricia Riggen. “With G20, I wanted to make the kind of classic, edge-of-your-seat action film that I’ve always been such a fan of, but one that draws on the high stakes of our modern and technologically advanced world we live in. The attack is led by Rutledge, played by The Boys’ Antony Starr — a fellow Iraq war vet left broken by his experiences.
