The Wives follows the unraveling of one family during a summer that changes their lives forever. For the past fifteen years, four sisters-in-law and their families have spent their summers at their Maltese holiday apartments. Last year, Sylvie was happily married, Natasha was wealthy, and Beth and Annabelle were inseparable.
But this summer, everything has changed. Sylvie is now single and embracing life, Natasha is secretly struggling with financial troubles, Beth’s life is in disarray, and Annabelle is dead. When Annabelle's widower, Charlie, shows up with a new girlfriend who bears an uncanny resemblance to Annabelle, Beth grows suspicious. Charlie's strange behavior raises doubts, and Beth begins to suspect there’s more to Annabelle’s death than anyone knows.
As secrets come to light and tensions rise, the women find themselves caught in a web of lies, corruption, and danger. With drug cartels, career criminals, and corrupt officials closer than expected, the sisters must band together to uncover the truth and seek justice—if they haven’t taken on more than they can handle.

Margot Gavan Duffy serves as the producer, while Jess Connell and Alison Jackson are the executive producers for Gaumont. Filming took place in Malta.
