The Last of Us Season 2: Does Dina Leave Ellie?

The Last of Us season 2 has propelled Ellie on the path of vengeance with Joel’s death at the hands of Abby. On this road trip of revenge, Ellie has Dina by her side in the game. In the show, Dina accompanies Ellie on her quest as well, but will she be there till the end? Or will she leave when things become too violent?

Will Dina Leave Ellie?

Yes, in the game, Dina does leave Ellie. However, that happens after multiple events force her to. After the first encounter with Abby leaves Ellie and her almost dead, they decide to move out of Jackson and begin a new life at a farm with JJ (Dina’s newborn son). 

While things look great from the outside, it’s obvious that Ellie is still haunted by Joel’s death. She also has PTSD, and at the farm, she has a really bad episode that affects her badly. One day, Tommy visits the couple and tells Ellie that she needs to honor her promise to kill Abby. 

This distresses and angers Dina, and she tells Tommy to leave them alone. However, Ellie decides to pack up and continue her quest for vengeance, leaving the life she was building with Dina. She even says to Dina in the game, “I don’t sleep, I don’t eat,” referring to her mental condition. 

Dina gives her an ultimatum, saying that she won’t do this anymore. By this, she refers to waiting for Ellie to return, while all this time, Ellie might very well be dead. Ellie replies that it’s her choice and then leaves through the door. 

Where does Dina go?

When Ellie returns to the farm at the end of The Last of Us Part II game, Dina is nowhere to be seen. The farm is empty, and their belongings, including the furniture, are nowhere to be seen. However, Ellie’s things are neatly packed and kept in a room. There is also a note from Jesse’s parents inviting Ellie and Dina to return to Jackson and live with them. 

So, while it’s not clarified where Dina went, many fans assume that she went to live with Jesse’s parents in Jackson. After all, with Ellie gone, it would have been nearly impossible for Dina to survive alone with a newborn baby on a huge farm, and that too in a world where there’s always the danger of zombies. 

Do Ellie and Dina get back Together?

In The Last of Us Part II, it isn’t explicitly said whether they get back together. Some fans think that when Ellie returns to the farm, she looks like she has showered and has had a meal. So, this is an indication that they have gotten back together, and Ellie is just there to gather her things. However, other fans think that Ellie’s things still being in the farmhouse is an indication of their breakup. 

Will Dina Leave Ellie in the show?

It’s way too early to tell whether Dina will leave Ellie in the show as well. However, if the events play out more or less exactly like the game, then it should be expected that Dina's departure could be included in either season 2 or a potential season 3.
