Plot
Following the successful debut of The Golden Bachelor last year, The Golden Bachelorette will showcase a second opportunity for love for a remarkable woman in her golden years. The men competing for her final rose have experienced the ups and downs of love, maneuvering through moments of happiness and heartache, and they come with eagerness, hoping to establish a connection and embark on a future together filled with endless possibilities.
Who is the Golden Bachelorette?
Sixty-one-year-old Joan Vassos is the first-ever Golden Bachelorette. She is a private school administrator from Rockland, Maryland. Joan is a mother of four and a grandmother of two. She was widowed in 2021 after her husband passed away from pancreatic cancer following 32 years of marriage.
Family is her first priority. She enjoys drinking wine and dancing to Elton John, playing with her dog, unwinding at the beach, and cooking scrumptious meals. She simply wants to find someone to share life with, someone who will easily fit in with her family.
We first met Joan on 72-year-old Gerry Turner's season of The Golden Bachelor, where she had to leave the show early to help her daughter deal with postpartum depression. Explaining her exit, she took to Instagram to write: "My journey to find love took a detour this week as I traded the mansion for motherhood and headed home to be with my family. Family comes first, period."
