The six-episode series will premiere on The Roku Channel on Friday, Oct. 4, 2024.
The show follows Charlie Puth as he strives to transcend pop stardom and establish himself as a multi-hyphenate talent, spurred by the realization that being just a musician isn't enough anymore.
Featuring a diverse array of artists, comedians, and icons from the pop culture landscape, the series showcases how these famous faces assist Charlie in navigating a heightened reality where his career anxieties and musical perfectionism often hinder his peace of mind. Ultimately, the show parodies the very zeitgeist Charlie is trying to conquer.
The trailer opens with Charlie Puth, 32, in a meeting where his team insists he needs to regain his presence in the "cultural zeitgeist" through a reality show. Eager to spice things up, he recruits a Gen-Z assistant and influencer Corporate Natalie as his "momager," along with celebrity friends like Will Ferrell, Courteney Cox, and John Legend, who help him craft a jingle for the Roku Channel.
Puth also explores writing a country album, but it doesn't go as planned. The trailer highlights a humorous moment where a group of teenagers question him about his tour mates; when he mentions Shawn Mendes, one teen quips, "Shawn Mendes is the better version of you." Additionally, it pays homage to Taylor Swift's shoutout in her song “The Tortured Poets Department,” reminding viewers that Charlie Puth is on his way to becoming a bigger artist.
The series is executive produced by Carrie Franklin, along with David Collins, Rob Eric, Renata Lombardo, Michael Williams, Charlie Puth, Ty Stiklorius, and Mikaela Puth.
