Vigilantes battle corrupt superheroes to save the world from their twisted reign in this popular Prime Video series. The Boys season 5 is currently in the writing stage and is scheduled to go into production later this year. The fifth season will be the final installment in the series. Showrunner Eric Kripke announced this on X.
Based on the New York Times best-selling comics by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, The Boys is set in a world where superheroes live among regular people but misuse their influence and power for selfish and diabolical intentions.
Many cast members are expected to return for the final showdown, and the story will pick up right where the fourth season left off. Release date & Where to Watch
An official release date hasn't been announced yet, but it is speculated to arrive in 2026. You will be able to watch the new episodes on Prime Video. There will be eight episodes this season.
Plot
In season five, the vigilantes will continue their mission to expose supposed heroes like Homelander for misusing their power. The show often parodies real-world sociopolitical and pop culture events, so it's likely that the 2024 Presidential election will significantly influence the plot. Kripke said, "My only problem is that since this year promises to be free of any conflict or misinformation, we're not sure what to write about."
Kripke has also confirmed that what happens in the spinoff show, Gen V, will affect the final season of The Boys. Some of the young adult characters from Gen V will show up in The Boys (possibly Maddie Phillips as Cate Dunlap, and Asa Germann as Samuel "Sam" Riordan), and the virus that kills superheroes in Gen V might continue to be important in The Boys universe.

Where is The Boys Season 5 Being Filmed?
As Kripke stated, filming for the last season will start in mid-November 2024 and continue into 2025. Although set in New York, the show is filmed in Toronto, like many others, as it offers a good replica of New York’s cityscapes.
Who will Direct The Boys Season 5?
So far, there are no confirmed directors for the upcoming season of The Boys. Each season usually has multiple directors. Phil Sgriccia is the only director who has directed an episode in every season. In the past, Kripke directed the season one and season four finales, so there is a possibility that he may also direct the season five finale.
