There have been quite a few teasers and trailers to announce the new Mandalorian spin-off series. This trailer mainly shows how Boba Fett takes Jabba the Hutt's old throne on Tattooine in an attempt to make a name for themselves in the galaxy's underworld.
In the new series, the main character is played by Temuera Morrison. We have seen the New Zealand actor in Attack of the Clones, where he played Jango Fett - Boba Fett's "father." And since this character is about identical clones and Boba is one of Jango's clones, this makes sense. Alongside him, Ming-Na Wen also stars as Fennec Shand.Â
This series is a great opportunity to explore the background of this vengeful character that followed Luke Skywalker across the universe in order to avenge the death of his clone father, Jango, and show what happened to him between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and the events of The Mandalorian's second season. The last time we saw him (canonically), Boba was lurking around Jabba the Hutt's palace on the desert planet Tatooine. During the time Luke and the others were trying to rescue Han Solo from Jabba's grasp, the bounty hunter had a jetpack malfunction and fell into the open jaws of a Sarlaac.
The Book of Boba Fett was teased in an end-credit sequence of The Mandalorian Season 2's finale episode (December 2020), where the new series was announced to be landing on Disney+ in December 2021.
Now, the legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett (accompanied by an assassin and mercenary Fennec Shand) navigate to the galaxy's underworld and return to Tatooine to claim the territory once ruled by Jabba the Hutt, in a reign based on "respect not fear," as he says in the trailer.
