In this article, we will tell you everything we know so far about The Bachelor season 29, including more about Grant Ellis. So dive right in as we keep you updated on the latest information about the series.
The Bachelor season 29 will premiere on Monday, Jan. 27, 2025, on ABC. You can stream on Hulu the next day.
An official synopsis hasn't been announced yet, but we know the format. The Bachelor is a dating and relationship reality TV series in which a group of young women compete to win the love of one male contestant. During the season, the bachelor gets rid of candidates every week, which eventually leads to his final choice receiving a marriage proposal. The participants go to romantic places for their dates, and the conflicts in the series come from the show's elimination-style format.
Thirty-year-old Grant Ellis has been chosen as the bachelor for season 29 of the series. He is a former pro basketball player and day trader from New Jersey. This news was announced at the end of the latest episode of The Bachelorette season 21. He was eliminated in week six of Bachelorette Jenn Tran's journey. Before leaving the show, Ellis told the cameras, "Jenn is a great woman. I expressed my love for her. I poured everything out and it wasn't good enough. It just sucks knowing that you feel some way about somebody and they don't feel the same about you."Â He added that he wants a family, to be happy, and to find a wife.
According to an ABC press release, "Ellis is "eager to embark on a journey filled with romance, adventure and genuine connections. He hopes to find a partner who shares his values of loyalty, humor and a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures." He is also a self-proclaimed mama’s boy.
Ellis is the second black Bachelor to be cast in the franchise. The first-ever black lead, Matt James, appeared on the 25th season of the show.
The Bachelor is produced by Warner Bros. Unscripted Television in association with Warner Horizon. Executive producers include Claire Freeland, Bennett Graebner, Tim Warner, and Peter Gust.
