What is the plot of The Åre Murders?

The Åre Murders follows Hanna Ahlander, a suspended Stockholm police officer reeling from a breakup and the internal investigation against her. Despite her suspension, Hanna becomes involved in the investigation. She teams up with local officer Daniel Lindskog, who is dealing with personal challenges and an understaffed police force. Behind the Scenes

The Åre Murders brings together a talented team of creators, led by directors Joakim Eliasson and Alain Darborg. The script is written by Karin Gidfors and Jimmy Lindgren, with cinematographers Nea Asphäll and Benjam Orre capturing the visuals. 

The series is produced by Brita H Lundqvist, with executive producers Tim King, Susann Billberg-Rydholm, and Viveca Sten. SF Studios backs the production, in co-production with Viaplay, promising a thrilling adaptation of Sten's bestselling crime novels.

Viveca Sten, who not only authored the books but also serves as an executive producer, shared her excitement about the series in a Press Statement, “The Åre Murders means a lot to me, and I’m thrilled that it’s now coming to life on a leading streaming service like Netflix! As the creator of the books, it’s incredibly rewarding to see my characters brought to life by such talented actors. My hope is that the TV series will resonate with audiences as much as the books have, both in Sweden and abroad.”

Reflecting on the journey of her books to the screen, Sten said, “When I started writing the books in Åre during the COVID-19 pandemic, I never imagined they would come to the screen so soon.
