Slime anime fans, your time has come! The That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime franchise website has released new details for its upcoming anime film. According to the latest update, the upcoming film will be titled That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Scarlet Bonds. The film is reportedly set for release later this year. The first season of the Slime anime is based on the manga series of the same name, by Taiki Kawakami.
However, Kawakami's manga series is also an adaptation of Fuse and Mitz Vah's original light novel series of the same name. The novel series was serialized online between 2013 and 2016 on the user-generated novel publishing website Shosetsuka ni Naro. The light novel has been licensed in North America by Yen Press, which published the first volume in December 2017. The manga series is available to read on Kodansha.
Eight Bit's Slime anime series adaptation aired from October 2018 to March 2019. A second season of the anime series aired from January to September 2021, and an anime adaptation of the second spin-off manga aired from April to June 2021. Both Funimation and Crunchyroll streamed the second part. Funimation also streamed an English dub.
Yen Press officially describes the story as:
"Lonely thirty-seven-year-old Satoru Mikami is stuck in a dead-end job, unhappy with his mundane life, but after dying at the hands of a robber, he awakens to a fresh start in a fantasy realm…as a slime monster! As he acclimates to his goopy new existence, his exploits with the other monsters set off a chain of events that will change his new world forever!"
The upcoming film based on the Slime anime series, as mentioned above, will be titled That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Scarlet Bonds (Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken: Guren no Kizuna). In addition to the title reveal, Slime anime's official website unveiled a new visual and a new trailer for the film. The film is slated to release sometime in November 2022.
