Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is going to be the second DCU film that will hit theaters after her cousin, Superman, flies in this year. Production has already begun on the film and James Gunn, the DC Studios boss, has shared the first look at Milly Alcock as the titular heroine.

Not only that, the Supergirl crest has been revealed as well, and it’s quite a departure from the one we saw in the Superman trailer. In this article, we will discuss the first look at the film, its release date, and more.

Milly Alcock’s First look on the sets of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow

It was rumored that Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow had begun shooting in January 2025 and in a Bluesky post on Jan. 24, 2025, James Gunn confirmed the same by sharing the first look of Milly Alcock on the sets of the film. She can be seen sitting in her actor’s chair. While it’s not a proper look at her suit or even her face, but it certainly qualifies as the very first look of the actor in the role. Check out the post below:

Thrilled to see cameras roll at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden on Supergirl, with Craig Gillespie at the helm and the phenomenal Milly Alcock as our Kara Zor-El.

In the caption, Gunn wrote:

“Thrilled to see camera roll at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden on Supergirl, with Craig Gillespie at the helm and the phenomenal Milly Alcock as our Kara Zor-El."

He also followed up with, “Craig brings an incredible sensibility to this story, and Milly is every inch the unique #Supergirl envisioned by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Nogueira.”

This has confirmed that Craig Gillespie, the director of Cruella, and I, Tonya, will be the director of the film. Nothing much else has been confirmed. However, we do know that it will be based on the acclaimed graphic novel of the same name by Tom King and Bilquis Evely.

How does the Supergirl Crest Differ from Superman’s?

In the first look shared by James Gunn of the film, we can see the crest that will be used in the film and it is a big contrast to Superman’s one. The one Clark Kent wears is yellow and bright whereas Kara’s is red and dark blue. This probably symbolizes the kind of mindset the two characters have. While Clark is bright and hopeful, Kara is probably not in that space. Check them out side-by-side:
