Release date & Where to Watch

Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story is set for a special theatrical release in the US on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024, through a partnership between DC Studios and Fathom Events. An encore screening will follow on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2024, coinciding with what would have been Christopher Reeve’s birthday. 

The documentary is expected to hit UK cinemas on Friday, Nov. 1, 2024. It is rated PG-13 for strong language and thematic elements.

Plot

Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story chronicles the extraordinary journey of Christopher Reeve, from his rise as an unknown actor to becoming the definitive Superman. This role sets the standard for today's superhero films. Reeve starred in four Superman movies and showcased his versatility across numerous other roles before a devastating horse-riding accident in 1995 left him paralyzed from the neck down. Despite this, Reeve emerged as a charismatic leader and activist, championing the search for a cure for spinal cord injuries and advocating for disability rights, all while continuing his career in film and dedicating himself to his family. 

The film features never-before-seen home movies, personal archives, and the first in-depth interviews with Reeve's three children, alongside conversations with his Hollywood colleagues and friends. This documentary is a vivid, emotional portrayal of Reeve’s remarkable life.
