Season four of Slow Horses will be based on Mick Herron's 2017 novel Spook Street, which is the fourth book in his Slough House series.
According to the book, the plot should be as follows: What happens when an old spy starts to lose his memory? Do they go to a special retirement home, or are they taken care of…for good? David Cartwright, a retired Cold War-era spy, is slipping into dementia, and his grandson, River, is worried. River is also an agent working at Slough House, where MI5’s disgraced spies are sent. Now there's a bombing in a shopping center, and River and his team must figure out who's behind it before things get worse.
The new season will open with this bombing, which, according to Apple TV+, "detonates personal secrets, rocking the already unstable foundations of Slough House."
