Sinners marks the fifth collaboration between Michael B. Jordan and director Ryan Coogler, following their work together on Fruitvale Station, Creed, and Marvel’s Black Panther franchise. Coogler, an Academy Award-nominated filmmaker, wrote and directed the project, while Jordan stars in a dual role.
Produced by Coogler alongside Sev Ohanian (Creed III) and Zinzi Coogler (Judas and the Black Messiah), Sinners brings together a powerhouse production team. Oscar-winning composer Ludwig Göransson, known for his work on Black Panther and Oppenheimer, scores the film. Key collaborators from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever also reunite for this project, including director of photography Autumn Durald Arkapaw, production designer Hannah Beachler, editor Michael P. Shawver, and costume designer Ruth E. Carter.
Warner Bros. Pictures secured distribution rights for Sinners after a heated bidding war against Sony and Universal, making it the only 2025 release to be shot entirely with IMAX cameras.
