Snapchat is rolling out a new 3D Bitmoji Lens that allows users to play tennis against icon Serena Williams. The AR-based feature generates a virtual court with Bitmoji versions of Serena Williams and the player. To enable access to the new AR game, users need to link their Snapchat accounts to Bitmoji.
The new Lens is meant to promote Wimbledon, one of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments. The social media app has partnered with other sporting events like the FIFA World Cup 2018 and Super Bowl LII to offer similar AR game for its users. The augmented reality experience is enabled by Snapchat using the front-facing camera. The older AR games are still available on the app for sports fans to play. It is likely Snapchat will cook something up for the upcoming MLB All-Star game as well for fans.
Starting today, everyone can play tennis against Serena Williams.. on Snapchat. 👻

The game allows users to move around their character across the court and the goal is to place your character on the spot the ball will land. The animated avatar will continue to swing the ball depending on the player’s movements. The gameplay speed keeps on increasing as players complete each level, making the game extremely challenging. Continued volleys can allow players to earn a maximum of four stars. Users can also show off their scores in the app's feed after a round ends.
The interactive AR experience works flawlessly on the app, and you should definitely try it out. It is a great way for Snapchat to promote Wimbledon to its users. If you want to catch up on all of the tennis action, check out our guide to watch the Wimbledon 2018 live.
