Today’s Microsoft press event was a way for the company to introduce new products and talk about its future plans. Among the newly introduced Microsoft-made products, we have the Surface Pro 6, Surface Laptop 2, and Surface Studio 2. Of course, all of these are powered by the latest Windows 10 update which brings quite a few tricks up its sleeve – and one of those is screen mirroring (coming in the future).
As we’ve heard during today’s press event, the company is interested in building a digital bridge between Windows 10 and mobile platforms such as iOS and Android. We can also see the result of this effort since the latest Windows 10 update brings an app called Your Phone. You will be able to connect your Android or iOS smartphone to your PC and use this app to gain access to certain mobile-first features.
Of course, this integration is much more limited for iOS users since Apple is quite restrictive in the way it allows third-party developers to use its mobile platform. On the other hand, Android users will be able to send and receive messages and preview the latest photos. However, there’s a long road ahead for the Your Phone app – and this is just the beginning.

As Microsoft’s representatives have shown us today, phone mirroring is coming to Windows 10. The goal of screen mirroring within the Your Phone app is to reflect the screen of your Android device on your PC. This means that you’ll get to use your smartphone just like you’re holding it in your hand. You can open installed apps, navigate your phone, drag and drop files, and do pretty much anything else.
This kind of screen mirroring would most definitely benefit Android users who wish to stay within Microsoft’s ecosystem, especially with the release of Microsoft Launcher 5.0. Even though the company doesn’t have its own mobile platform anymore, it’s good to see that it’s still willing to create solutions like this one.
