Netflix announced that Prince Harry's new documentary series about the sport of polo will be called POLO and will debut later this year. The news about the Duke of Sussex's project was first revealed by Deadline on April 11, around the same time as the announcement of Meghan Markle's upcoming cookery show. A couple of days later, there were sightings of the Duke with a camera crew at the National Polo Centre in Wellington, Florida, suggesting that production was already well underway.

Since moving to California, Prince Harry has teamed up with his close friend, professional polo player Nacho Figueras, to join the Los Padres team. They have played in several games together, raising money for Harry’s Sentebale charity at events such as the Royal Salute Polo Challenge in Miami and at the Aspen Polo Club in 2022.

Figueras was one of the first people to find out about the prince's new relationship with Meghan Markle in 2017. Figueras shared on the Netflix series Harry & Meghan that the prince said to them, "Guys, I met a girl. We've just met but I think this might be the one."

Release date & Where to Watch

Polo will premiere on Netflix in December 2024. A specific date is yet to be announced.

Plot

Prince Harry has been playing polo for many years. In April, it was announced that he is working on a polo-focused show for Netflix. The show aims to give viewers a unique look into the world of professional polo. The series will reveal the tough and passionate side of the sport, showcasing the players and what it takes to compete at the highest level. It will also highlight the sport's aesthetic and social scene.

In a statement, the streaming giant said, "POLO is a new documentary series that follows elite global players and offers an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at the fast-paced world of the sport. From Archewell Productions and Boardwalk Pictures. Premiering this December." The update included four photos. One showed three polo players on horses overlooking a pitch, and two others depicted athletes using mallets to compete for the ball.

It is still not clear if Harry will be shown on camera in the documentary series.

Where was Polo Filmed?

The docuseries was shot primarily at the US Open Polo Championship in Wellington, Florida at The USPA National Polo Center from March 27 to April 14.
