Philo will soon allow subscribers to use voice control to switch the channel on Android TV. Thanks to a new feature Google is rolling out to Android TV, this will soon be possible for everyone.
During the recent Google I/O event, they showcased Android TV and the way it will make life easier for those who want to subscribe to all sorts of services, including Philo. In fact, they've pointed out that Philo is one of the early adopters of this new feature they've been cooking - the ability to use voice control to change the channel and bring up more information.
So, if you tell your Android TV to switch to Comedy Central, the device will now do just that instead of popping up a search results page that requires even more action from your part.
Additionally, you'll now be able to sign up for a service, install the necessary app and log into your account much easier since Google is giving publishers more integration options. Philo has had an Android TV app since this past December, so subscribers with such a device have been enjoying it for a while.
Philo nowadays features a single bundle of networks called 58 Channels. This one costs only $20 per month, which makes it one of the cheapest options out there. The service works on browsers, Android TV, Apple TV, Roku, Fire TV, and iOS, but you'll need to use your Chrome browser to watch on an Android smartphone.
