Earlier this week, OnePlus launched OxygenOS 12 for the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro powered by Android 12. The OnePlus new software was met with complaints from users who experienced bugs and other issues, such as customization options, network issues, or general build stability issues, so the company decided to pull it from the market.
Since people received it negatively, the Chinese brand OnePlus decided to pause the OxygenOS 12 update and stated "the company is aware of issues and is working to fix them. As soon as possible, we will roll out a new software update."
The OxygenOS 12 update has been challenging for the OnePlus 9 series. According to Android Police, the update is "just awful," as it fails to load most menus and forces users to turn on the 120Hz refresh rate again. According to Reddit and users on community forums, the update is not stable. Many users are experiencing issues with editing, are experiencing difficulties with the network, and several tools aren't working.
A report in 9to5Google said, "OxygenOS 12 is riddled with bugs and issues that honestly make it difficult to recommend updating and installing." On the other hand, XDA Developers released a PSA advising users to factory reset their OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro to fix problems.
The OxygenOS 12 update includes the same new features as Android 12, including Material You, Wallpaper-based themes, App Hibernation, and a Private computing cluster. Work-Life Balance 2.0 with automatic switching between work and life modes and notification profiles is one of the additional updates from Android 12.
Not only OnePlus is experiencing problems with the Android 12 rollout. Samsung rolled out its Android 12-based One UI 4 beta for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 recently with a few bugs. It is unknown when the updated OxygenOS 12 for Android 12 will be made available by OnePlus.
