The year 2022 is turning out to be a great year for anime with Attack on Titan in its final season, Demon Slayer creating momentum, and now One Piece seems to be contributing to the hype! The latest chapter of One Piece might be delayed, but fear not for the anime series is slated to make a comeback to Toonami.
One Piece has plenty more in store for fans since a movie is going to debut this year as well! In addition, the Wano Country arc is soon coming to a close in the anime series as well.
Toonami took to Facebook and shared, "We are psyched to announce the triumphant return of One Piece to Toonami this Saturday night! We'll be starting at episode 517 and showing back-to-back episodes this weekend. A New Chapter Begins – The Straw Hat Crew Reunites." According to the programming schedule, One Piece will return to Toonami on January 22.
The schedule shows that the late-night block will begin at midnight with Blade Runner: Black Lotus, followed by Assassination Classroom. At 1:30 AM EST (10:30 PM PT), fans will be able to check out One Piece, which will be a double-feature. Two episodes of One Piece will air on Saturdays, which will be followed by Naruto: Shippuden.
One Piece's return to TV has fans psyched, and we totally understand why. The popular adventure fantasy anime series last aired on the block almost 5 years ago, in March 2017. Since then, several series have come and gone from Toonami, with loyal fans still awaiting Luffy's return.
While One Piece is one of the most popular and longest-running anime series of all time, they must make sure to make this comeback to TV work in their favor. This is because the last time the anime was on Toonami, some executives revealed that the ratings were not as amazing as they were for some of the other content airing. Our only suggestion is to tune into Toonami every Saturday once it begins airing if you want our favorite straw-hat Pirate to stick around!
