One Piece's upcoming live-action series is currently in production. The creators revealed details about the main cast and additional cast members earlier this month. Now, a new actor has joined the cast as the fan-favorite father figure of Monkey D. Luffy. The man who gave Luffy his signature straw hat is coming to our screens in live-action form! According to Crunchyroll, Peter Gadiot, who is currently playing Adam in the Showtime series Yellowjackets, will be taking on the role of Shanks.
The upcoming anime movie, One Piece Film: Red, is slated to air soon, on August 6, 2022. According to reports, the film will focus on a new female character and "Red-Haired" Shanks. The first character poster featuring the mysterious character revealed in the original teaser trailer has been released. The announcement reveals nothing else about the character, except the Japanese text on the poster reads, "Hey Luffy, stop being a pirate!"
According to Shinji Shimizu, a producer from the One Piece anime, One Piece Film: Red is the only film of the franchise in which Eiichiro Oda has actively participated the most. Oda is the executive producer, character designer, and script reviewer of the film. Take a look at the character poster below:
