O'Dessa premiered at the 2025 SXSW Film & TV Festival and will be available for streaming on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States, as well as on Disney+ internationally, starting Thursday, Mar. 20, 2025.

What is O'Dessa About?
In the post-apocalyptic rock opera O'Dessa, a young farm girl embarks on a perilous quest to recover her mother's prized heirloom, a guitar named Willa. After her mother’s death, O'Dessa leaves her home, hoping to find her estranged father. But the guitar is stolen, leading her to the dangerous Satylite City, where she crosses paths with crime lord Neon Dion and falls in love with Euri Dervish, a male sex worker.
As she struggles to retrieve Willa, O'Dessa’s talent for music transforms the city. She constructs a new guitar from scrap materials, which propels her into the spotlight, catching the eye of the cruel TV host Plutonovich. As O'Dessa's music captivates Satylite City, she faces the ultimate test: saving Euri's soul while navigating the city's dangerous, oppressive environment.
The film blends elements of love, destiny, and rebellion, with a queer allegory at its core. In a role reversal, O'Dessa plays a more dominant character, while Euri embodies a softer persona. The epic rock opera is written and directed by Geremy Jasper, with production by Academy Award nominee Michael Gottwald and Noah Stahl. Executive producers include Lourenço Sant’Anna, Rodrigo Teixeira, and Alan Terpins. Principal photography began in May 2023 in Croatia.
Produced by Searchlight Pictures, Department of Motion Pictures, and RT Features, the film’s cinematography is by Rina Yang, with editing by Jay Rabinowitz and Jane Rizzo.
