NordVPN is introducing a new protocol called NordWhisper which will allow users to connect to VPN servers that are usually restricted by advanced network filters. VPN users will now have better access to restricted environments opening the door to a more transparent internet.
While NordWhisper would offer better solutions, the company assured that the same level of security, encryption and privacy standards will be maintained with the new protocol. Filters applied in public Wi-Fi hotspots used at airports, cafes or conferences will not restrict NordWhisper.
The new protocol will allow better access. However, it will be relatively slower for the technology it is based on. Upon the complete launch of the NordWhisper protocol, it will be available for VPN users on Windows, Android, and Linux platforms, in addition to OpenVPN, NordLynx, and IKEv2/IPsec.
Users will be able to select NordWhisper from the connection settings on the NordVPN app. It will assure better connectivity regardless of the network filters.
Network administrators usually trace traffic signatures and limit access. However, NordWhisper uses the web tunnel technology which gives it a competitive edge over traditional VPN protocols. It will make the traffic appear as regular web traffic.
Addressing the usage of the new protocol, NordVPN shared this disclaimer in its blog, “We do not support or encourage any illegal activities when using NordWhisper or any other protocol with NordVPN. Please ensure that your use of NordVPN complies with all applicable laws, agreements, and network policies.”
