HMD Global Finnish start-up, which has the license for Nokia brand, is now set to release their upcoming smartphones in the Indian market in June.
Ajey Mehta, HMD Global's Vice President said that the company expands over 400 distributors who can reach out to the whole world and set up to 300 service centers. And the company also opens exclusive brand stores depending on the popularity in India.
The latest report deal with the company decides to launch both feature and device which is powered by Android OS under Nokia brand in the Indian market. There are three smartphones are in line and one feature phone which is a revamped model of Nokia 3310. He said the new handsets will also come with latest software updates.
Mehta said " “We will expand the portfolio and have a presence across price segments. However, we will not be the cheapest smartphone brand in the market. While pricing will be benchmarked against competition, but it will be as per the value and experience we provide".
The company is currently in talks with Foxconn to manufacture the Nokia handsets in India. The studies have shown that the Nokia brand has 5% brand awareness and recall in India. Ajey added, "We are confident of making a big comeback".
HMD's chief Marketing Officer Pekka Rantala said in an interview with PTI that is "All the products that we have announced, Nokia 3310, Nokia 6,5 and 3 will be available in the second quarter of this year in India. Average global selling price for the new 3310 is 49 euros (around Rs 3,470)".
The new models will be launched in India by the end of June month.
