No Good Deed is a dark comedy featuring Lisa Kudrow and Ray Romano as Lydia and Paul, a couple aiming to sell their stunning 1920s Spanish-style villa in one of Los Angeles' most sought-after neighborhoods. Eager to move on from their empty nest, they find themselves at the center of a real estate frenzy as multiple families race to purchase the property, each believing it will resolve their various personal dilemmas.
However, Lydia and Paul are haunted by dark secrets that linger within their home, transforming their dream of selling into a nightmare. As potential buyers, including characters played by Abbi Jacobson and Poppy Liu, admire the house’s classic features, the couple secretly monitors the open house through an iPhone app, hiding in one of the bedrooms. The situation escalates with shocking moments, including hidden cameras and violent surprises, revealing just how difficult their dream home can be.
As the couple grapples with their past, they realize that confronting the dangers hidden within their beloved villa is the only way to escape its hold on them. Ultimately, the series explores the darker side of the pursuit of happiness through the lens of homeownership, illustrating how a seemingly perfect residence can harbor terrifying truths.
The video teases a “dark vibe” as characters vie for the Morgan villa, featuring a terrifying power saw, shadowy figures, and at least one bloody body lurking nearby.
The promo opens with an open house by “Raleigh Real Estate” in a spacious Los Angeles home valued at over $3 million. Linda Cardellini appears as a character who is no longer dead to us, while Luke Wilson’s character, donning shades and a cap, signs in as “John Smith.”

Liz Feldman serves as the creator, showrunner, director, and executive producer of No Good Deed, bringing her expertise from Dead to Me to this new Netflix series. Silver Tree, also from Dead to Me, joins her as an executive producer and director for the pilot and additional episodes. They are joined by Christie Smith, Jessica Elbaum, and Will Ferrell, who are executive producers under Gloria Sanchez Productions, known for successful films like May December, Booksmart, and Hustlers.
Feldman has credited her writers' room for their contributions in crafting the show’s complex narrative, which she envisioned as a mystery. "They helped me expand on that and dig out the most complicated, fun, twisty version of that," she notes.
In a statement about the series, Feldman revealed that No Good Deed was inspired by her own house-hunting experiences during the pandemic. “I was so sick of looking at our walls when we were on lockdown,” she said, recalling how her exploration of over 50 houses uncovered deep stories behind each family. This realization led her to understand that every house has its secrets.
Tracey Pakosta, Netflix's Head of Comedy, expressed excitement over Feldman’s new project, stating, “No good Liz Feldman project can go unproduced. She has an unmatched eye for dark comedy.”
