While anime fans were blessed earlier this week with the merging of Funimation and Crunchyroll, manga readers are getting a brand new platform! According to the latest reports, NTT Solmare Corp launched a new digital manga platform, MangaPlaza, in the U.S., on March 1, 2022. The new platform boasts over 2,000 titles in its library. NTT Solmare Corp is also offering $10 Amazon gift cards to 301 registrants to celebrate their official launch. In addition, the platform also offers a 7-day free trial for new users.
NTT Solmare Corp announced its plans to launch MangaPlaza back in December 2021. The platform aims to bring a vast range of titles like shonen, shojo, seinen, josei, boys' love, and teens' love for manga fans in the U.S. The MangaPlaza trial page launched a pre-registration campaign on January 24. The campaign featured products and promotions, such as the exclusive world premiere of English Obey Me! The Comic.
Readers could access 72 manga titles free of charge during the pre-registration campaign. Furthermore, the campaign also saw collaborations with Akidearest and a subscription cash bonus for pre-registrations ahead of the official launch. Read on for more details about MangaPlaza.
MangaPlaza's extensive library features titles from many Japanese publishers, including Kodansha and Kadokawa. In addition, MangaPlaza's list of business partners also includes Hakusensha, Coamix, Shodensha, Futabasha, Houbunsha, and Shusuisha.
The platform currently offers access to nearly 50,000 chapters from 2,000 titles. The service's library spans several genres: action-adventure, romance, comedy, drama, sci-fi/fantasy, and LGBTQA+. The platform also features original titles that have not yet received English releases. MangaPlaza's titles also include several popular series like Attack on Titan, Fairy Tail, Fire Force, That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime, Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku, among others.
MangaPlaza features a monthly subscription for users for $6.99, offering unlimited access to around 13,000 chapters. Alternatively, users can purchase individual chapters without a subscription, with the cost ranging between $0.45 to $3.99. Most available titles in the library also offer one chapter for free.
