The Netflix on-demand streaming platform has announced a dramatic price cut across all its tiers in India, while Disney Plus Hotstar and Amazon Prime have increased their rates. The platform has some good news for its customers, as the "Happy New Prices" campaign show tiers now start from ₹149 (almost $2) instead of ₹199 for the least expensive, Mobile plan.

The company stated in the relevant announcement the new Netflix subscription rates are in effect as of today, December 14.

All the available plans have significantly lower prices now, as such:

Content like Minnal Murali, Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein, Finding Anamika, Looop Lapeta, Decoupled, and Kapil Sharma, along with movies and series from across the world, can be watched for less.

Netflix made this decision to meet the demands for digital content in India and was forced by increased competition coming from Indian subscription video-on-demand companies like Disney Plus Hotstar and Amazon Prime.

However, Amazon Prime increased its Prime membership fee by 50% today and announced a subscription price hike applied to its annual, quarterly, and monthly plans: from ₹999 to ₹1,499/year, from ₹329 to ₹459/quarter, and from ₹129 to ₹179/month. Also, Hotstar's annual subscription costs ₹1,499 (₹125/month) and Disney charges ₹499 for its mobile subscription plan, so Netflix is definitely trying its best.
