The 41st Miss Teen USA pageant took place on September 28, 2023, at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada. At the event, Faron Medhi of Nebraska crowned UmaSofia Srivastava of New Jersey, marking New Jersey’s first win. 

What is the Miss Teen USA & Miss USA Controversy?

The Miss USA pageant has recently been rocked by dramatic changes and controversies. Both Noelia Voigt, who held the Miss USA title, and UmaSofia Srivastava, the reigning Miss Teen USA, have stepped down from their crowns. Their resignations have sent shockwaves through the pageant community, with both former titleholders accusing the organizers of severe abuse and bullying.

Voigt, who won the Miss USA crown in September 2023 and competed in Miss Universe later that year, announced her resignation on Instagram, urging her followers to prioritize their mental and physical health over any title. She didn’t delve into specifics but emphasized, “Never compromise your physical and mental well-being. Our health is our wealth.”

Just two days after Voigt’s announcement, Srivastava also revealed her departure, citing disagreements with the pageant organization.
