Mid-Century Modern follows three lifelong friends—gay gentlemen of a certain age—who, after an unexpected loss, choose to spend their golden years together in the sun-drenched haven of Palm Springs. Their new life unfolds in the lavish home of Bunny Schneiderman, the wealthiest of the trio, who shares his space with his sharp-tongued mother, Sybil.
As they navigate aging, relationships, and the quirks of cohabitation, their bond is tested by both heartfelt moments and hilarious misadventures. Adding to the chaos is their uninhibited Gen Z housekeeper, who ensures that life in their unconventional household is anything but dull.
With humor and heart, the series explores friendship, second chances, and the undeniable truth that no matter what life throws at you, there’s always someone around to remind you that a little cosmetic touch-up never hurts.

The Mid-Century Modern trailer opens with a stylish aerial shot of Palm Springs, capturing the sleek mid-century homes and sun-soaked landscapes. Bunny lounges in his luxurious home before turning to Jerry and Arthur with a heartfelt offer: “You’ll both move in here. Let's be together while we still, like a family."
The scene cuts to the trio adjusting to their new living situation, with plenty of witty banter and chaotic moments. As the trailer unfolds, shenanigans ensue under one roof. The group “interviews” a new housekeeper, who impresses them by casually dropping into push-ups.
The trailer wraps up with a joke about their dating escapades, Jerry smirks and delivers a playful remark: "In this house, straight is the worst hand you can get." The friends erupt in laughter, perfectly capturing the show's sharp wit and the unapologetic charm of their chosen family.
Linda Lavin passed away on December 29, 2024, at age 87, due to complications from recently discovered lung cancer, midway through filming Mid-Century Modern season one. According to The Wrap, she had three episodes left to shoot before her death, which led to changes in the show's premise.
Series co-creator Max Mutchnick shared how they addressed her absence in a January Instagram post, featuring photos from the set of the apparent funeral episode. The photos show a memorial at Lavin’s trailer. “This Week at Mid-Century Modern we filmed an episode I never thought we’d have to write, ‘Here’s to you Mrs. Schneiderman,’” Mutchnick wrote. “Saying goodbye to the character of Sybil was painful. Saying goodbye to Linda Lavin was heartbreaking.”
The show is filmed entirely in Palm Springs, its iconic 1960s architecture and stunning homes will likely take center stage.
