As expected, Microsoft’s media event was a chance for the company to unveil new products and inform us of its future strategy. If you follow TechNadu’s latest news, you already know about the new Surface Pro 6 – as well as about the already available Windows 10 October 2018 Update. However, the company has also announced the next-generation Surface Laptop 2 as well.

The original Surface Laptop received praises from tech experts and customers alike. However, we live in a fast-evolving world where PC components develop at a fast rate. That’s the reason why the original device already looks somewhat outdated. This changes today with the Surface Laptop 2, as Microsoft has decided to bring all-new internals and update their already popular product.

On the outside, nothing has changed. The company didn’t want to make any risky moves like introducing a new design or eliminating certain ports. The new Laptop looks close to identical to its predecessor. This is still a very simple, lightweight, and highly elegant device. The only change on the outside is that it now comes in black as well. However, there are some notable changes when it comes to the device’s internals. The Surface Laptop 2 is now powered by the Intel’s eight-generation Core processors. On one hand, this means that the device is 85% faster the previous generation. On the other hand, the new CPU also bring better power management. This translates to the fact that the Laptop 2 comes with all-day battery life – 14.5 hours, to be more precise. Of course, real-world mileage will obviously vary.

All in all, we have to say that we’re quite pleased with the new device. After all, the original Surface Laptop was a brilliantly designed device. The new option of buying it a black variant also means that the Alcantara fabric is less likely to get dirty. In addition to this, you will most definitely feel the power of the newly updated internals as soon as you start using this laptop.

Finally, it should be noted that the Surface Laptop 2 lineup starts at $999 and it’s shipping on October 16.

Let us know your feelings about the new product in the comments section below. And don’t forget to follow us on Facebook and Twitter as we’ll keep bringing the latest news as they come. Thanks!
