Microsoft yesterday announced the release of new Skype for Web preview experience. This Skype for Web update brings the latest version of the Skype experience to the web app. Both variants of the VOIP service have a shared codebase, which allows features to be available on both the web, mobile and desktop versions of the app.
One of the highlight features of the new web version of the app is HD video calling which was not previously available and it also includes new call reactions. Call recording is also available for Skype for Web. You can record all calls with a single button and no longer have to rely on third-party services.

A new notifications panel has also been added to Skype for Web, which allows you to catch up on all missed notifications by simply clicking on the bell icon to view all unread notifications. You can also see reactions to your messages, mentions, quotes and can directly jump to any message you click on in the respective thread.
You will not be able to access the new features if you are not part of the preview experience just yet. If you want to try out the new features you can sign up for Skype’s Insider program and become a part of the Preview Experience for Skype. The web app also has a chat media gallery that allows you to view all sent and received media in one place. You can also sort the media by type to get to the files you need quickly. Conversations also have search functionality which allows you to search for specific messages, a feature not available on the web version until now.
