During the last couple of days, we have been hearing reports that Microsoft was planning to introduce the next-generation Surface Pro device. Even though many of us have hoped to see more radical changes, the company’s Surface Pro 6 brings familiar design and updated internals – just enough to help the device stay relevant in today’s market. The device will come with Windows 10 October 2018 Update preinstalled - which is another notable news from today's press event.

The new Surface Pro 6 looks close to identical to its predecessor – except for a new coat of paint. You will now be able to buy the device in black. It’s been a couple of years since Microsoft offered a product in black - if you can remember how the Surface Pro 2 looked like. And of course, you will be able to buy a matching Alcantara cover for the new device.

When it comes to other new features, it all comes down to more powerful internals. The Surface Pro 6 is trying to stay relevant by using Intel’s eight-generation processors. Thanks to the CPU's four processing cores, we can expect the new device to perform noticeably better than the previous generation. That’s because the previous Surface Pro and Surface Laptop devices were using Intel’s dual-core processors.

As Microsoft’s representatives have noted, the Surface Pro 6 is up to 65 percent faster than its predecessor. This means that even if you use the Pro 5, which is still a highly capable device, you still have a strong reason to buy the latest model. Let’s also not forget to mention that the new Pro has an improved battery life – 13.5 hours of use, to be more precise. There are also subtle improvements related to the display, which is already known for its performance.

Finally, the Core i5 Surface Pro 6 now starts at a price of $899 – so, cheaper than ever before. The newly announced device will start shipping on October 16.
