Robert Pattinson takes on a darkly comedic and surreal role in Bong Joon-ho's Mickey 17, where dying is just part of the job. Based on Edward Ashton’s novel Mickey 7, the film follows Mickey Barnes, an “Expendable” tasked with fatal missions, only to be resurrected again and again.

With a star-studded cast including Toni Collette, Steven Yeun, Mark Ruffalo, and Naomi Ackie, the newly released second trailer offers a glimpse into Mickey’s bizarre and perilous world, where survival is anything but guaranteed.

What’s in the new Trailer of Mickey 17?

The second trailer for Bong Joon-ho's "Mickey 17" begins with Mickey Barnes (Robert Pattinson) reflecting on his decision to leave Earth, stating, "Nothing was working out there, so I came here." As an "expendable" on a mission to colonize the ice planet Niflheim, Mickey's role involves undertaking perilous tasks, including inhaling unknown viruses to test the planet's atmosphere.

Despite the fatal consequences, his consciousness is repeatedly transferred to new bodies via 3D printing technology. Mickey remarks on this cycle, saying, "Every time I died, they just printed me out again."

Tension escalates when Mickey discovers another version of himself, leading to a confrontation where both are hunted by their superiors. Hieronymous Marshall (Mark Ruffalo) coldly states, "In the case of multiples, we exterminate every individual." Determined to survive, the two Mickeys decide to fight back against their oppressive overlords.

The trailer concludes with a poignant exchange between Mickey and Nasha (Naomi Ackie), his love interest, who acknowledges his resilience: "Mickey Barnes, fighting right to the end." The closing line, "He's dying... to save mankind," encapsulates Mickey's harrowing existence and the film's darkly comedic tone.
