Spent is a semi-autobiographical comedy-drama created by stand-up comedian and former catwalk model Michelle de Swarte. She also stars in the series as the lead. Partly drawing from her own experiences in the modeling industry, de Swarte takes on the role of Mia, a former catwalk model running from herself.
The harsh reality is that her career has come to an end, she has no money, and she is homeless. Despite her modest beginnings, she has grown reliant on a luxurious lifestyle. Unfortunately, these choices don't count for much when you reach 40 and find yourself perpetually without a home. She may have a pretentious attitude and a top-notch skincare routine, but Mia is now living in poverty. She is not ready to admit this to anyone, not even to herself.
